Thankfully it's spring, which means the weather is getting warmer and we’re more inclined to get into the car and enjoy a ride.  However, before you take off make sure your vehicle is ready for your spring road trip!

5 Tips for Your Spring Road Trip, Youngs Insurance, Ontario

Getting your vehicle road trip ready is an essential part of our spring/summer rituals in Ontario. As soon as the weather gets better we are determined to explore and enjoy it to the fullest.

Check out our 5 tips for getting your car ready for your first spring road trip:

#1 Tires

Now that warmer temperatures are here, it might be time to take off your winter tires. Check out our blog, Should I Take off my Winter Tires? to see if it’s time. Also, check the pressure on all four of them and on the spare tire.  Ensure every tire has sufficient tread for safe travel.

#2 Spring Cleaning

Even your car needs some spring TLC!  Clean the windshield and headlights and wash your car to get rid of the salt build up.  Focus on the inside, too!  Get rid of any garbage and vacuum the seats and carpets.

#3 Wiper Blades

Make sure the wiper blades are not worn and replace them if they are.  Be sure to top up your windshield washer fluid, too.

#4 Check All Fluids

Spring is a good time to get your oil and oil filter changed.  After all, this is one of the best and easiest ways to keep your engine running properly.  You may also want to check and change the power steering fluid and transmission and brake fluid.

#5 Brakes & Battery

Before you leave for your spring road trip, make sure the brakes on your vehicle are working properly.  If you aren’t sure, you could always get a trusted mechanic to look at them for you.  You should also make sure the battery in your car is still running strongly.

Going on a spring road trip can help to clear your mind and you’ll have even less to worry about if you follow these tips.  When you make sure your vehicle is road-ready after winter, you’ll be able to really enjoy some much needed time away.
