There are many things that make your home attractive to thieves, so make sure you read these suggestions to protect your property!
#1 Security Dog
Dogs can act as security guards, especially ones that will bark at the sight of strangers. Even if your dog is little or if one doesn’t exist, you can still put up a beware of dog sign. Often the sign alone is enough to deter someone from breaking in.
#2 Put Up a Fence
People often put up a fence to ensure their privacy, however, a fence can also protect your home. If you can’t see out, thieves can’t see in.
#3 Use Lights
Illuminate your property so thieves can’t hide easily in the dark. Sensor lights are very helpful and only come on when triggered.
#4 Secure Sliding Doors
Sliding doors can be lifted out of their tracks but you can prevent this by drilling a hole into the upper track of the door and inserting a screw that extends out into the runner.
#5 Locks and Doors
Make sure that all exterior doors are solid. Metal doors are the best protection against forced entry. As for locks, deadbolt locks are the best option.
#6 Secure Your Glass
Make sure that if there is glass near a lock, such as a glass window by the front door, that it is tempered so that it can’t be broken easily by thieves.
We hope you feel more empowered about ensuring your home is protected. These tips are designed to make your home less attractive to thieves.
