Giving Back | Alf Rampado Legacy Award | Team Kelsey

The Alf Rampado Legacy Award was introduced in 2016 in memory of our dear friend and colleague.  We are proud to announce that this year’s recipient of the Alf Rampado Legacy Award is Team Kelsey.

The Alf Rampado Legacy Award

To honour Alf, we have committed to donating $5,000 to a children’s charity each year.  Youngs Insurance and the Rampado family are truly inspired by Kelsey’s story, and we couldn’t think of a more deserving initiative to receive the 2017 Alf Rampado Legacy Award. This award will be presented to Kelsey’s parents, Lana and Derek Hill at our 9th Annual Charity Golf Tournament dinner, on Tuesday, August 22, 2017.

My family and I are very pleased to have selected Team Kelsey as the initiative this year for the Legacy Award. In reading Kelsey’s story, we immediately noticed a connection with my dad and Kelsey not only in their illness but also in their selflessness, determination, and leadership. It was always his desire to support initiatives that help children and families. He would be so proud that, through this award, his love of children and his legacy will live on. - Alicia Rampado & Family 

Kelsey's Legacy - Team Kelsey

Team Kelsey was established in 2010, when Kelsey Hill was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour.  Kelsey endured 3 brain surgeries, 36 radiation treatments to her brain and spine, 6 months of intense chemotherapy, over 600 needles and countless blood and platelet transfusions. 

Tragically, in December of 2011, at the age of 13, Kelsey lost her courageous battle with cancer.

Kelsey was extremely passionate about helping other children and families affected by cancer. Her family continues to honour her legacy of giving back through the amazing work they do each year with Team Kelsey. To date, Team Kelsey has raised $135,000 – with all funds supporting Ronald McDonald House Charities South Central Ontario and McMaster University’s Stem Cell and Cancer Research Institute. For more information about the amazing work Team Kelsey is doing, please visit their website at http://www.teamkelsey.ca/
